so today is the big match – wales Vs england. there is nowhere like cardiff on a match day. the streets are full with the overflow from the bars. painted faces with dragons and daffodils singing loud and proud. strangers become best mates with the clink of a pint glass. a sea of red shirts floods around the castle and down to the stadium. its like a magic is in the air. for the welsh, rugby runs deep through their blood and although im not actually welsh, i wouldnt want to be anywhere else.

Cymraeg

Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi
Gwlad beirdd a chantorion enwogion o fri
Ei gwrol ryfelwr, gwlad garwyr tra mad
Tros ryddid collasant eu gwaed.

Gwlad Gwlad,
Pleidiol wyf i’m gwlad,
Tra môr yn fur i’r bur hoff bau
O bydded i’r hen iaith barhau

English:

Land of my Fathers, O land of the free,
A land of poets and minstrels, famed men.
Her brave warriors, patriots much blessed,
It was for freedom that they lost their blood.

Wales! Wales!,
I am devoted to my country.
So long as the sea is a wall to this fair beautiful land,
May the ancient language remain.
